Simoom

Bio:

Simoom is a hard rock metal band that touches upon melodic, technical and some progressive elements. The band is from the San Francisco Bay Area and formed in 2009. Simoom is a four piece band with Tino Molinari on Vocals, Alain Shaboon on Guitars, Mr. Jay on Bass and Linden Reed on Drums. Alain and Linden had been jamming out and writing songs and structuring ideas in a live setting almost weekly for about 2 years prior to the band having a bassist or vocalist. After trying out a few bass players, Mr. Jay joined the band. The band was complete after putting their search for a vocalist to rest once Tino came to try out for the band.

Weekly band practices led guitarist and band manager Alain Shaboon towards deciding it was time to invest a little into his band and put them in the studio to record a demo. The band entered Prairie Sun Recording in Cotati, CA in early 2009, just a few months after the full band formed. One song was finished and coincidentally that same week the local radio station was accepting one track from local bands for a radio contest that would span a 7 week period with winner to be determined by listeners calling in and voting. The band entered and got weekly airtime on the station. Voters determined Simoom to win the Road to Rockstar competition on Santa Rosa’s Hard Rock radio station KXFX 101.7 the Fox, earning them the title as North Bays Most Requested band. The bands first show ever was in June of 2009. It was a showcase for the top 5 bands in the radio contest. The bands second show was at a One Love For Chi benefit show to benefit Chi Cheng of Deftones, alongside Will Haven. The band played one local show then opened for Kylesa then by the bands fifth show, they were playing at the San Francisco stop for Crue Fest 2 opening for Motley Crue, Godsmack, Drowning Pool, Theory of a Deadman and more. After performing around Northern California endlessly for the next two months. Simoom performed at San Franciscos Regency Grand Ballroom to a packed house after being chosen by Phil Labonte, vocalist of All That Remains, to open the Hard Drive Live tour, in a selection process that included hundreds of unsigned bands from the Bay Area. This show found the band opening for All that Remains, Lacuna Coil and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Two months later the band had artist deals with EMG Pickups, Furman Sound and Mesa Boogie amplifiers. What followed this was the making of  two amazing music videos, one for Vine which was shot and edited by Roaring Mouse Productions (Machine Head, American Head Charge, Staind) and one for Cutting Seams shot and edited with Guerilla Wanderers Films (Mudvayne, Brian Head Welch) which has been viewed on local television channels nationally as well as on Havoc TV on Xfinity Comcast On Demand and has won “the most awesome music video award” at the 2011 L.A. Film + Music festival.

At the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010, while performing regularly, the band decided to hit the studio again and finish up a 6 track EP titled Sever Your Losses which they released at a show in which they opened for Nonpoint and Cold. After this show as well as another one at the same venue, they were asked to open for Trapt on Halloween 2010. At this show guitarist Alain Shaboon started talking to Trapt bassist Peter Charell and what came up was the beginning of what turned into the band recording some new songs as well as some old ones with Peter as producer. Produced by Peter Charell from Trapt, the new EP titled To See Reason was recorded at the Omen Room and Dexter Dog Studios in Feb 2011 and will be available in 2011.
